This vintage cook book published in 1965 is filled from cover to cover with recipes, culinary knowledge and stories and humor from all things Texas including regional history and politics.
You will find the recipe for Son of a Gun Stew ( from one carcass ) to the prize winning recipe at the 1964 Luling Watermelon Thump, which was of course, Watermelon rind preserves. Lyndon Johnson's favorite Red Velvet Cake are included as well as goodies both cooked and written from Austin to Waco and regions in between.
This is the second printing of this book written by Mary Faulk Koock. It is illustrated by Tom Ballenger. It has 474 pages of recipes plus an index. The red and gold hard back cover is in very good condition. Pages are wrinkle and dirt free with sharp corners and only slight age yellowing of pages. This cook book shows little sign of use. Even if you don't cook a lick this book is wonderful reading and has some hilarious Texas stories included. Printed in the USA.
The price of $20 includes the shipping any where in the continental US.
